Summer officially arrived yesterday. I always find it a little ironic that once summer arrives the days actually start getting shorter. Funny since summer is known for it’s long nights.
Anyway, with summer in full swing the fun of being out of school is starting to wear off and you may have some bored kids on your hands. There are loads of summer activities and ideas to get your kids moving and entertained.
Trip Advisor Tank of Gas Feature
You may know Trip Advisor for their user reviews of various hotels. I know it has been an invaluable resource for me in planning where I’m going to stay. But did you know they have a cool feature called Tank of Gas?
The way it works is you type in your starting city. This could be the city you live in or a city you are planning on traveling to or even grandma’s city. Then you chose Full Tank, Half Tank or Quarter Tank of Gas. Hit “Get Ideas” and the site will provide you with some destinations and top attractions. You can even download a free guide that has more things as well as recommended restaurants.
Keep in mind that the tank is one-way so if you choose full tank it would actually be 2 tanks, one there and one back. But selecting the half tank option can give you some ideas of things that could easily be a day trip. To try it out go HERE.
BOGO Baseball Tickets
On Tuesdays, between May 12 and Sept. 1 if you bring a Kraft Singles package wrapper you can get a steal of a deal. When you buy one ticket, the wrapper gets you another for free. This is only valid at Minor League Games. Go HERE to see which teams are excluded from the promo.
Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse
From June 16th through August 19th Cinemark is showing a different movie every weekday morning. All 10 movies can be purchased in advance for $5.00 or you can buy them at the box office for $1.00 per show. With temperatures topping 100 everyday here is Texas, this might be a nice way to cool off. Go HERE to find a theater and schedule of movies.
Free National Park Weekends
Over 100 National parks are providing fee-free weekends this summer: July 18-19 and August 15-16. This would be a great way to plan a lower cost family camping trip. Go HEREto see a list by state. Plus you can always use the Tank of Gas feature mentioned above to see what else you can do in the area that might be off the beaten path.
If you want even more ideas, check out Cha Ching Queen’s big list summer ideas for kids HERE.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the tips. You can even go for some innovative home based ideas like you can let child let play in bath and make iceberg for them, make paddling pools for them, make sand-pits… Children will love all these.
