Many people love Southwest Airlines because they allow you to check two bags free. This can save quite a bit when you are traveling with children and all their gear. We are planning a trip to Chicago in November with the baby and flying Southwest seems the only way to go. Otherwise we’d pay a fortune to check our bags and all the baby’s gear.
Well, Southwest just introduced a new policy that makes flying with kids even easier. Starting today Southwest allows one stroller and one car seat to be checked free per child. This is in addition to the 2 free bags already in place. So if you’re flying with two parents and one kiddo, you can check a stroller, a car seat, a pack n play and three suitcases for free!

I’m guessing that’s only if you pay for a ticket for the kiddo. If you travel with a lap baby (under 2yrs), they probably won’t give the 2 pieces of luggage. They might (as American does) allow a free car seat and other piece of baby equipment. That’s just my guess.
Anna – You had me worried! But I called Southwest and spoke to customer service. This applies to lap babies. The rep told me I could still check my two bags for free AND check a stroller and a car seat free of charge for the child on my lap.
