Amazon added a $114 Kindle. This device is identical to the $139 Kindle however, it has sponsored screensavers. When my Kindle is off I see portraits of authors on the screen like Harriet Beacher Stowe, Charlotte Bronte and James Joyce. But if you purchase the $114 Kindle, you’ll have sponsor images instead of the authors including special offers from Amazon.
There will be no interruption when you are reading and sponsor images won’t appear in your books – just on the screensaver and on your home page.
This seems like a great deal to me. I don’t think the images would be intrusive in any way and it’s a great way to be able to get a Kindle for less. These “new” Kindles begin shipping May 3, just in time for Mother’s Day. You can preorder it now to ensure timely delivery.
