Fun Friday Giveaway: Wow! Wood Floor Cleaner from Black Diamond

I interrupt the regularly scheduled Gift Guide Giveaways to bring you a Fun Friday Giveaway! Do you have wood floors in your home? We do and I’ll be honest, they’re beautiful and I love them but they are a lot of work to care for! Due to the special type of flooring and sealant we can’t use any old floor cleaner and a mop and bucket of water are a huge no-no. I’ve been using the Bona system and was pleased with it but was really unsatisfied with the price.

Enter Black Diamond Stoneworks: They offered me a Wow! Floor Cleaning System that appeared similar to my existing Bona system but get this, was environmentally friendly! The ingredients are water based and non-toxic. This means it’s a little easier knowing your kids are rolling around on the floor after you mop. In addition to a bottle of cleaner, the starter kit also came with a mop and microfiber cloth. I thought the mop portion was very sturdy and well crafted. The cloth has a deep pile with two purple stripes that aide in scrubbing. I’ve washed the cloth twice now and it still works just as well as day one.

Now, onto how it works: For those of you not familiar with this type of cleaning system, you use the spray bottle to spray as you go and you mop the area until it is mostly dry to avoid streaking. Regardless the system, you must follow this step or any cleaner will streak. I thought the Black Diamond system worked great. I was really impressed with the microfiber cloth. I thought it did a much better job of collecting dirt than any other system I have used. The head of the mop also seemed wider than others which made it easier to mop.

The only downside was that it didn’t make my floors quite as shiny as the Bona system I’ve previously used. However, my floors felt cleaner, weren’t sticky and I felt better knowing that harsh chemicals weren’t being used. I’ll sacrifice shine for those three any day!

The short version of this long story is that I’m a convert. I love using a product I feel is safe. The cloth picks up a lot of dirt and my floors feel clean afterwards. What more can you ask for!
