Winner #1: Karen
Comment: Sounds like a great book to have to give me daughter or daughter-in-law one day.
Winner #2: Krista
Comment: One thing I don’t like about this second pregnancy is that because I had back labor with my first, I feel lower back pain every single day. I’m physically unable to do as much as I’d like to do. It is very frustrating.
I’ll be honest. I did not enjoy my pregnancy. It was horrible and I thought it would never, ever end. When I saw Erin MacPherson’s new book, The Christian Mama’s Guide to Having a Baby, I wasn’t so sure it was for me. And then I read the back…
You’re pregnant. You thought you’d be glowing. Instead you’re glistening with sweat, reeling from nausea and, worst of all, you can’t even get your favorite jeans buttoned. You’re irritable, nervous, bloated and, to be perfectly honest, a bit annoyed that it takes nine whole months to grow a baby. Couldn’t God have sped up the process a bit – say , in only two or threes weeks?
That was me! To a T. So I picked up the book and gave it a chance. I came away laughing and wishing I’d had the book at the beginning of my pregnancy. While it won’t solve your nausea problems, you’ll find all kinds of great advice like navigating the OB’s office, what kinds of baby gear to buy, eating for two, choosing names and there’s even a mini-condensed page for the dads who can’t even handle reading the dedicated Dad Chapter. And through it all Erin points women to God and his involvement in the entire process. It’s truly a great read.
This would make a great baby shower gift for a girlfriend in your life or grab one for yourself. I plan on reading it again next time I get pregnant. You can find more details on the book at Christian Mama’s Guide or get your copy on Amazon with free Super Saver Shipping.
Erin has graciously given me two autographed copies of her book to giveaway to two lucky Saving with Shellie readers.
Ready to win? There are three methods of entry:
:: Required
1. Leave a comment letting me know what you loved, hated or are looking forward to about pregnancy. Obviously the baby at the end was the best part. But I hated the nausea. Instead of ending at the beginning of the second trimester, mine lasted through my eighth month.
:: Optional for Extra Entries
2. Subscribe to Saving with Shellie via RSS feeds or email. If you already subscribe, leave a second separate entry saying you do so.
3. “Like” Saving with Shellie on Facebook. If you’re already a fan, leave a third separate entry saying you do so.
This giveaway will end Tuesday (3/8) at 11:59pm CST and I’ll announce the winner on Wednesday (3/9).
Good Luck!

What I hated most about being pregnant was the morning sickness (actually it was really all day sickness for 5 months!). What I loved most was feeling my baby move (especially when it wasn’t at 3am!).

I am currently half way through my second pregnancy. The first one was pretty smooth. This one kept me sick through week 16. I hate feeling huge so early. My favorite part, as with most moms, is feeling the baby move inside me.
I loved the excuse to eat stuff without worrying about gaining weight (because it would happen anyways). I didn’t like getting out of shape…and having to lose the weight after having the baby.

The worse part right now is never knowing how I will feel that day. The part that I am looking forward to is when the baby starts moving and letting my 3 and 4 year olds get to feel their sibling moving!
Nauseous the majority of the time!

This sounds like a great book. I hated being pregnant with my first and not sure I want to go through all that again.
i loved being pregnant. being able to wear maternity clothes that EMPHASIZED my belly rather than try to hide its imperfections was the BEST!

I loved being the center of attention, I know, right! I shouldn’t even admit it, but I miss it, I loved being pampered, cared for, and thought about!

I had terrible pregnancies! Choleastasis = Terrible Itchiness!!! I’d love to share this book with my sister when she gets pregnant.
I am currently pregnant with my second baby and I’m exhausted. That’s what I dislike the most – I’m always tired!! Even if I get a nap, which is tough with a toddler, I still feel like I’m dragging and lack any motivation.
I already receive SWS emails.

I am 30 weeks. I hate the acid reflux and indigestion. I had it is my first trimester and sure enough it came right back in my third. And it seems like there is nothing the prevents or gets rid of it.
But I love feeling my baby girl move. It still excites me ever time.

During my first, my doctor misdiagnosed preeclampsia so I was on a very strict diet. I got a new doctor a month before my due date but the baby decided to come a week later. Girl Scout cookie season was during months 7 and 8 of my second pregnancy (that was a double edge sword!!)

Hated the heartburn / acid reflux – lived off Tums the last few months!
I’m currently in the first trimester with my second baby. I’m hating the nausea and bone-numbing fatigue that seem to be worse this time around. I can’t wait until I can feel the baby move!

My boss is currently pregnant with her first baby. I would like to give it to her!
My 3 pregnancies that went full term, I loved every minute of. If I could stay pregnant I would. And I had 2 babies less than a year apart. Being pregnant, I had more energy than any other time in my life. I know—-even my doctor said I am weird, but he loved that I was.
I loved everything about my pregnancy…but my poor husband, he had a few things he could have complained about like him being outnumbered by pillows and my huge body pillow. I swear I could never get comfortable and I had to have pillows everywhere.

The Lord hasn’t given me a natural-born child (yet). We adopted the most precious baby girl last year and I’m so glad for trusting in His plan! However, we are still continuing to try for one of our own and I look forward to feeling a child grow inside of me and bonding with it from literally day one.
