I have a really fun giveaway for you today. Betty Crocker sent me this great gift basket last week. I got it in time for Easter. Stan was making a cake for his mom’s birthday so he got to use several of the items in the basket. I don’t know whether he enjoyed using the wisk or the bowl scarper more. It was such a nice treat to get to use some new things on baking day.
The reason for the promo is because Betty Crocker is launching a new program called The Mixer (it’s free!). You will be learning the ins and outs of cooking and baking, while interacting with Betty Crocker Kitchens experts LIVE during a class and connecting with an entire community of people just like you. What’s great is that you can do it in the comfort of your own kitchen whenever it best fits your schedule.
Each week for six weeks, The Mixer will feature a new class line up complete with recipe demos, tips & techniques, flavor secrets and much more. Go HERE for a short video about this cool program. I already registered and am excited about the classes! I think I’m most looking forward to Week 5: Wok it Out. I love using our wok and am excited to try some new recipes and techniques. I hope you’ll join me!
What better way to be prepared for cooking and baking than with this great basket! Not only did Betty Crocker send me one, but they are giving me one to give one lucky reader! How can you win? There are 3 ways.
1. Leave a comment telling me what kitchen gadget you can’t live without. Stan would probably tell you it’s the ice cream scoop but I would say either the garlic press or the avocado slicer. They both make messy tasks so much easier.
2. Subscribe to Saving with Shellie via RSS feeds or email. If you already subscribe, leave a second seperate comment saying you do so.
3. Add Saving with Shellie to your blogroll or add my button to your sidebar. Make sure you come back and leave the link to your site in a separate comment.
The giveaway will end on Monday 4/20 at 11:59pm CST. I’ll announce the winner on Tuesday 4/21.
Good Luck!
P.S. In addition to the cooking utensils, inside the basket was a Cake Recipe Booklet that has some really delicious looking recipes. I think the two I’m most interested in making are the Gooey Carmel-Chocolate Bars and Fudge Ice Cream Dessert. They look delish! But even if you don’t win, you might be able to pick up this recipe booklet at your local grocery or discount store. The cover says display until April 7 but if your store is a litle slow, they might still have it out.

Boy, that’s a hard one! The Kitchen Aid mixer (which I absolutely love), the tiny little spatula, the adjustable measuring spoons or the french whisk? I love them all, but I guess I would pick my newest “gadget”, the french whisk. It is often saving me from lumpy gravies or sauces – a great little tool!

Its gotta be the wonderful mixing spoons my Mom gave me for Christmas two years ago. They don’t melt when you are stirring your food, are so sturdy and clean up so well.
